Advertising company Saatchi & Saatchi recently hired architecture and interior design studio Blitz to design their new office in El Segundo, California.

“As we dove into Saatchi & Saatchi’s world and learned about how their teams developed projects it became clear that the creatives needed a safe space to build and break and re-build ideas and concepts before formally pitching to their project leads. The “idea” became its own constituent in the project – something to be considered spatially and solved for specifically. Whenever a design decision needed to be made, we returned to the question: “what is in the best service to protect the idea?”.

Our primary Client shared a desire to create a new home for the agency that supported exploration and fostered curiosity. The meandering path provides views across open “fields” (neighborhoods) and links up a series of protective seed pods (project areas / rooms) for safe and hidden idea generation; and garden walls to define the crops and showcase / pin-up the harvest. Apertures and strategic wayfinding allow the project to unfold rather than revealing itself all at once,” says Blitz.

A team of designers from interior design firm Maike Design recently designed a new office for business studio Studio Sisu.

“The 1930’s warehouse shell has been transformed into a bright and inspiring creative work space. Providing different zones of use throughout offers the flexibility required for both collaborative work and individual creative exploration whilst retaining the original building’s sense of scale.

Studio Sisu is designed to address the physical limitations and isolation of an industry fractured by small studio business models. It brings together complimentary businesses to create opportunities for discussion and interaction amongst peers. Encouraging creative collaboration of ideas and skills creates an environment otherwise inaccessible to small businesses or individual practitioners.

Using a mixture of high and low cost materials, furniture and fittings has allowed the design to create a highly crafted and unique environment within the specified budget. The inclusion of refurbished antique furniture and fittings allows the new building work to sit comfortably alongside the existing factory structure.

The design of the new interventions and custom designed furniture, uses a simple materials palette accentuating the highly tactile surfaces of the original building.

The new entry pulls back from the street and softens the solidity of the building, providing the studio with a distinctive presence within its laneway context. The entry doors emphasise the height of the space and their offset placement directs visitors to the office without the need for a formal reception.

The ground level is a flexible, shared space allowing for large-scale projects or workshops not usually catered for in an office environment. Amenities on this level leave the entire upper level free from any solid visual interruptions.

The upper level office uses a simple palette to accentuate the highly tactile surfaces of the original building. Strategic use of screening and joinery creates distinct zones whilst retaining the sense of volume which made the original shell such a unique and appealing space,” says

Private creative agency recently reached out to interior design studio Studio For to design their new office in New York City, New York.

“This workplace for a mid-sized creative agency in Manhattan was designed to attract and retain top talent in one of the world’s most competitive markets. The leadership of the agency tasked Studio For with creating an environment where their culture of innovation can thrive and grow. Acting as a canvas for the work, a sophisticated neutral color palette provides a backdrop where creatives can feel inspired—but not distracted —by their surroundings. Vinyl wood flooring at the entry balances the various gray tones in the office while also incorporating warmth and being cognizant of office acoustics.

Other wood elements are found in furniture and a meeting enclosure with perforated wood panels. Floating wood shelves further soften the space and provide a place for plants that add color and a biophilic element. A range of seating options from lounge chairs to high top tables in multiple collaborative environments incite creativity and provide teams with options to meet in various places and positions.

This flexibility facilitates account managers, copywriters and art directors to move about freely as they focus on conceiving and executing world-class campaigns for their international clients,” says Studio For.

Advertising and marketing company Rise and Shine hired architecture interior design firm Studio BV to design their new office in Minneapolis, Minnesota.

“The new office supports a new way to work and prioritizes what is most essential about work,” says Kevin DiLorenzo, Rise and Shine and Partners President/CEO. “We made a strategic decision to move to a Minneapolis neighborhood near the lakes and remake what our office could be.”  The new office is in a new timber structure that is full of texture and simplicity and the new office operates like a home. The anchor of the space is a large kitchen gathering space that is connected to a roof top deck. The deck has views of the neighborhood and their favorite ice cream shop downstairs.  That favorite local ice cream maker even created a new flavor for them called Rise & Shine!

The new office features a signature light in the main conference room, visible from the stairs, elevator and entry.  The use of color and contrast creates intimacy and definition throughout the space.  The light options are metaphors for the lighthouse and the beacon that welcomes the team everyday to the space and to the place of creativity in the meeting room.

The new office features concrete floors, wood architecture, and glass.  The intervening design work focuses on saturation as a point of contrast to the warm ceiling and wood columns.  This contrast in color is seen in the interior walls that contrast with the white perimeter walls.  The color creates definition and drama in the space.

“Our new space embraces new world realities,” says DiLorenzo. “We call it ’the Hive,’ because it has great energy and people can buzz in and out as needed. Our people have demonstrated a great ability to work from anywhere, but we still crave opportunities to connect and collaborate in person.”

Advertising agency Fallon recently moved into a new office in Minneapolis, Minnesota designed by architecture & interior design firm Studio BV.

“Fallon and Sapient moved to a new neighborhood. Undoing decades of the central business district identity that has embodied these brands and moved into the North Loop of Minneapolis. This neighborhood is authentic: old and new, young, hip, residential, and commercial. This contrast to their past location is exactly what these two firms need to grow into the future. The remaking of culture, again.

“This industrial office is a contrast between the warehouse office and the comfort and familiarity of home,” said Betsy Vohs, Founder and CEO of Studio BV. “The unwinding of what it is to be in an office space is the opportunity to create a new paradigm for Fallon & Sapient.”

The experience of the space acts and feels like being in a home. The spaces are comfortable and accessible, as well as flexible to support the needs of the teams. The public spaces act like a foyer, a salon, a dining room, a conservatory, a game room and a library space. The private spaces are simple and flexible to support the creative nature of the work of Fallon & Sapient. There is whimsy and there is humor. The confidence of being comfortable and knowing who you are is the spirit of this new office.

Spaces that support individual needs coalesce around spaces where people come together to share ideas. These “gathered” spaces are designed to be inclusive, eliminating silos and creating opportunity for innovation.

The stair connects all the pieces together just as it does in a home. The plants, art and accessories are as present as the spaces to meet and the places to pin up work. This new home for Fallon & Sapient is a dynamic place full of life, love and joy”.

Twin digital agencies Syzygy and Ars Thanea recently hired architecture firm Colliers to design their new headquarters in Warsaw, Poland.

“With an area of over 1,300 sqm, the spatial layout has been designed to ensure work comfort and freedom of movement. Work zones were divided into small open spaces for teams of 8 to 10 people, where individual workstations were separated from each other with acoustic curtains. The high acoustic standard and lack of distraction is also ensured by the mineral wool ceiling above the workstations. This allows you to meet the current needs of your employees – focused or collaborative work. To ensure that duties run smoothly, including in hybrid form, the space has been equipped with high-quality AV equipment.

The individual work zones are separated by design tables for collaborative work, chillout spaces and other areas for shared use. Additionally, a large number of small and medium sized meeting rooms have been designed, as it is the lack of these that people have been facing so far.

Supporting relationship building and community formation was one of the key tasks of the new office. In response – in addition to collaborative project space – we designed a large, social kitchen that was connected to a chillout zone. It is a space where employees can have lunch or coffee, but also organize informal meetings and celebrate important moments, both personal and company successes.”

Marketing agency 15 Marketing hired interior design studio Thirdway to design their new office in Watford, England.

“We needed to create a space that emulated the excitement of the tech-inspired, 15 Marketing brand whilst introducing playful elements that align with their love for gaming and allow their culture to shine.

You can’t miss the giant 15 Marketing logo behind the reception desk – the neon light encased in 3D lettering has maximum impact as soon as you step in the door. Separated by floor to ceiling Crittal-style glass partitions, the games room is visible from the front of house but also tucked away. In here you’ll find a pool table, ping pong table and even a specially designed corner fit for a game of petanque. The stunning giant arched industrial windows mean natural light floods right through this unique spot and into the breakout area.

With so much space to work with, plus employee wellbeing being a top priority for the client, a huge breakout and open kitchen area were factored into the floorplan, becoming the beating heart of the office. This space truly is all about bringing the team together and allows 15 Marketing’s culture to thrive. Employees can utilise the space to hot desk, collaborate, enjoy lunches and so much more. The giant bleacher merges into bench seating that runs the entire length of the room. A living moss wall at the top of the bleacher brings life and softness, as do the integrated timber planters filled with greenery behind the end-to-end benched seating. The large built-in presentation TV is the icing on the cake to make this the ideal place for an all-hands company meeting or an exceptional space for events.

The kitchen boasts a moody, modern colour palette with impactful black walls and dark green finishes on the cabinets. The white and green patterned splashback is playful whilst the light marble surfaces keep things sophisticated. There’s more than meets the eye with the low-hanging brass lights over the central island as they cleverly double up as heaters to keep food warm when laid out for the team – something that the 15 Marketing team are treated to on a daily basis from their in-house chef. The commercial kitchen is where the culinary magic happens, hidden away from view but an important consideration from the outset.

Elsewhere, you’ll find a variety of working areas to pick and choose where to work from. The twin meeting booths built into the opposite wall are space-savvy with a relaxing, pistachio green contrasting with a bold, contemporary terracotta. The modern circle lights act as a subtle central feature and compliment the overall aesthetics. Head deeper into the office and you’ll arrive at the fixed desk and hot-desking area. Future employees of 15 Marketing need not worry when it comes to wellbeing at work as there’s plenty of natural daylight and an array of biophilic elements throughout. Tucked away within the walls are more call booths and pods, factored in to suit the growing need for virtual meetings.

Providing a quieter spot to take a break in is the Moroccan inspired zen room. This tranquil space boasts more rich and cosy terracotta colour on the walls and ceiling. Organic materials such as wood and Jute make an appearance, in addition to greenery, and bohemian furnishings like rattan lampshades and patterned pouffes as chosen by Tribe.”

Brand advertising agency Yamamoto recently hired interior design firm Studio BV to design their new office in Minneapolis, Minnesota.

“The design concept of the creative hub, builds on the brand guidelines of Yamamoto. Creativity is a way of life. The new space for Yamamoto welcomes guests and visitors into a reception space that reflects the creativity of the agency.

“Creativity is felt through the design as it plays out in everyday materials used in new ways,” says Betsy Vohs, Founder and CEO of Studio BV. “We focused on turning the basic into extraordinary to make everyone feel welcomed into the new home for Yamamoto.”

The experience as a visitor is fun and fresh, complete with new furniture and a reception desk that makes it easier to greet guests and feel the energy of the agency in the lobby. The color pallet comes through in the reception desk, brand wall and furniture throughout the space. The warmth of wood is a great contrast to the concrete floors and glass.

Teams can gather at the new coffee bar as they connect with partners and clients in a variety of meeting spaces. The new workspace design balances both team and client needs for productive creative work sessions.”

Photography studio Bluecerigo hired architecture and interior design firm Alain Carle Architecte to design their new part office, part studio in Montreal, Canada.

“This new photographic agency wants to be a place of diffusion and creation as well as a place of life in its own right. For the sake of integrating daily rituals of guarding into complex working hours, a large part of the space is dedicated to the children of promoters and collaborators.

The original space has been completely restructured to create an open and versatile place. The addition of shutters to the openings allows to modulate the natural light, inherent to the photographer’s work, according to a device that is both simple and aesthetic.

The space is fragmented by the implantation of “place-objects” which reconfigure the full and the empty spaces to offer unusual visual breakthroughs compared to the relatively modest scale of the places,” says Alain Carle Architecte.
