Creative agency The Bloc recently hired interior design studio Studio Fōr to design their new office in New York City, New York.

“The space’s open concept has a casual, creative feel that reflects the agency’s own brand. With a variety of meeting spaces and work areas, as well as standout views for all to enjoy, the design fosters efficiency and inspiration.

The historically industrial, mercantile and marine context of what is now the Financial District in Manhattan inspired the overall aesthetic of the space including materials, finishes, and product selections. This inspiration also influenced the design of custom components, including the custom bench system at the office perimeter, as well as workstations with solid wood desktops and raw steel components.

Among the priorities of the design: inspiring creativity, fostering collaboration between the accounts- oriented and creative teams with ample room for a variety of meeting spaces, and leaving the views of the river and beyond unobstructed for all to experience. These goals were achieved by creating three distinct sections within the open office areas, which were further distinguished by being set at various elevations: raised platforms with offices and conference rooms, workstation areas, and perimeter meeting spaces.”

Body brand Billie recently hired interior design studio Office of Tangible Space to design their new office in New York City.

As a nod to where Billie products live, the office features subtle hints of sleek bathroom materials. This includes a curved tiled wall at the entrance of the space and textured glass blocks that form the walls of conference rooms. An open concept, designated bathroom vanity creates open space for the team to test new body care formulas.

Other key design features include venetian plaster that brings texture and warmth to the space and custom desks with fun table legs. When asked about the inspiration behind the design, Yarinsky shared, “We posed what we thought were 2 interesting questions: One was how can we challenge the use of traditional building materials that may be traditionally thought of as “masculine” or “feminine” and the other was how would you turn a bathroom into an office? We wanted to elevate the design in this new phase of our partnership, conveying the brand across every detail.”

These thoughtful details not only speaks to the conceptual designs but also reflects the flexibility that Billie’s leadership is championing for their team.“We intentionally created space to allow for ultimate flexibility, with desks and conference rooms across scale so people can spread out safely or quickly catch-up with a colleague. The office is made for transient collaboration, encouraging people to come into work without adding in walls or limitations.”

Private creative agency recently reached out to interior design studio Studio For to design their new office in New York City, New York.

“This workplace for a mid-sized creative agency in Manhattan was designed to attract and retain top talent in one of the world’s most competitive markets. The leadership of the agency tasked Studio For with creating an environment where their culture of innovation can thrive and grow. Acting as a canvas for the work, a sophisticated neutral color palette provides a backdrop where creatives can feel inspired—but not distracted —by their surroundings. Vinyl wood flooring at the entry balances the various gray tones in the office while also incorporating warmth and being cognizant of office acoustics.

Other wood elements are found in furniture and a meeting enclosure with perforated wood panels. Floating wood shelves further soften the space and provide a place for plants that add color and a biophilic element. A range of seating options from lounge chairs to high top tables in multiple collaborative environments incite creativity and provide teams with options to meet in various places and positions.

This flexibility facilitates account managers, copywriters and art directors to move about freely as they focus on conceiving and executing world-class campaigns for their international clients,” says Studio For.

Financial services company CreditSights recently hired architecture firm Kostow Greenwood Architects to design their new office in New York City.

“The overall design provides multiple break-out spaces for collaborative and individual work. An expansive, south facing café encourages casual interaction or becomes another individual workspace in natural sunlight. A glass wall with large sliding doors allows the Conference Lounge with sofas to become an extension of the Conference Wing with meeting table and chairs or create two distinctive areas for groups to meet. The 3Form LightArt Echo Fixture is a notable design element with two important functions – providing light and acoustic rating similar to a suspended acoustical ceiling without reducing the ceiling height. The open plan office, sit-to-stand desks, promote easier collaboration between teams and healthier daily physical activity.

Adjacent workrooms, with digital room schedulers, are an alternative enclosed workspace for one to four employees. Reception connects the two wings: West – open plan office and East – conference rooms. The east conference wing contains four conference rooms that can accommodate from 6 to 12 people around tables with additional side seating. A separate Flash Studio with acoustical separation, green screen backdrop, and recording equipment facilitates more varied vlogs for their clients’ needs. The conference room adjacent to the café has white board paint walls to facilitate team brainstorming”., says Kostow Greenwood Architects

American daily newspaper Newsday hired architecture & interior design firm TPG Architecture to design their new office in New York City, New York.

“Throughout the design process, TPG needed to preserve Newsday’s strong legacy as it moves forward into the future. Newsday reenergized itself as an award-winning multimedia company through the conception of a safe and welcoming space that is dynamic, reflective of its brand, and serves as a source of inspiration for both visitors and staff. This headquarters relocation allows Newsday to consolidate and bring their staff together. Additionally, employee care was paramount— Newsday wanted their team to feel that they were moving into a comfortable work environment that suits their needs today and in the future. The design has a strong technology-infused, modern feel that gives the workplace a fresh and forward-thinking atmosphere.

Branding and graphics played an essential role in Newsday’s design. Throughout the process, it was important that the new office reflected the Long Island aesthetic and drew inspiration from the local community. The team designed a large-scale art installation that features published Newsday photos printed on metal panels outside the main entrance. In the newsroom, there is a flash cam area for quick camera pans to reporters during live broadcasts and streams—positioned right in the middle of the news hub, allowing staff members to feel like they are a part of the action. The work area is open, surrounded by large-scale TV screens to monitor the latest news developments and work. They also now have photo and video editing studios that can increase their digital and social media presence. Additionally, the interactive multimedia space at Newsday’s new Melville headquarters is geared towards celebrating local community events. As part of Newsday Productions, this multimedia space will now be available to external clients which can accommodate 186 people.”

Acoustical consulting firm Cerami & Associates hired architecture & interior design firm Sydness Architects to design their new office in New York City, New York.

“The NYC headquarters for renowned acoustic and technology consultants, Cerami Associates, occupies a full floor in a mid-town Manhattan office building. With an approximate staff of 100, the requirements for their space included sound testing chambers and a virtual reality room in addition to conference spaces and private offices. The general open plan allows plenty of collaboration and communication between associates while at their workstations or in the generous café-pantry area. Lounge areas were placed throughout the plan to encourage work between team members while also allowing them the chance to individually work from a variety of different areas.

Unique to this design, was a request to use subtle branding and the desire to utilize the workspace as a living showroom, showcasing acoustic materials and control methods throughout the space. Included in the resolution of these is the design of an acoustically generated graphic and relief-like wall treatments to identify with the company’s heritage. Color was used throughout the space to distinguish programmatic elements that vary between disciplines. Various wall, door, and floor treatments along with sound masking systems were also specified as part of the acoustic showcase,” said Sydness Architects.

Financial group Mizuho Americas hired architecture firm Ted Moudis Associates to design a new office for their Mizuho Bank in New York  City, New York.

“An escalator ushers visitors up to the second-floor lobby, where they are met with a glass viewing box, through which the trading floor is visible. Granting guests the opportunity to view the trading activity through glass partitions was devised as a means of feeding the energy of the workplace, while adhering to security protocols that keep trading activities secure. Another walled room serves as a morning brief room for traders, and transitions into a 24/7 cafe space. Ted Moudis Associates prioritized flexibility, ensuring that all furniture in the cafe space is movable, to accommodate larger events. Collaboration zones are incorporated at the corners of each floor, to allow for breakout meetings and encourage the flow of ideas.

A grand bronze staircase with marble tread, set against a backdrop of wood slats and moving lights, leads elegantly to the third and fourth floors. The mathematical movement of the lighting references the technical mechanics of trading and can be reprogrammed as desired, emphasizing the core of the company’s work. Guests are brought into a separate conference space with outward-facing views, and travel is seamlessly programmed around the exterior of the floor by a singular linear light fixture that leads visitors and workers through the space. An executive suite on the fourth floor features a monumental 48-foot marble table and switchable glass walls. Additional workspaces on the 18th and 19th floors of the building house administration, legal and human resources departments.

Ted Moudis Associates strategically incorporated insulation and soft carpeting to account for acoustics on the trading floors, which are designed to accommodate up to 800 people each. Support bars with access to recycling bins and shredders are situated at the ends of each row of benches, creating additional space for impromptu meetings. Trading floor columns incorporate company branding, each with the Mizuho logo set against white glass on one side, and against dark bronze on the opposite, to ensure that every worker has a unique view of the space. Trading floor rows are illuminated by rows of lighting carefully positioned in the high, open ceilings to avoid reflecting onto screens.

The primary objective was to implement a design that would enable the culture of Mizuho to carry throughout and be felt by all traders and visitors. Ted Moudis Associates drew upon Japanese design influences, referencing the company’s origins, through the use of contrasting colors, recessed metal, and warm wood accents. Original branding design throughout the workspaces is inspired by Japanese motifs, with signage based on kanji, which are logographic characters used in Japanese writing. The company’s work is reflected in the glass wall of rotating binary code that greets visitors upon arrival to the second floor.

Ted Moudis Associates prioritized a human-centered approach through every step of the design. Devised to promote equity and inclusion in the workplace, the design integrates all-gender restrooms, prayer rooms, and wellness rooms. Mizuho’s origins and history are preserved through the thoughtful integration of company culture, Japanese design, and spaces for reflection. A poignant tribute to the lives lost by the company on 9/11 is incorporated in the lobby, where two simple beams of light are set against a bronze metal backdrop engraved with each individual’s name.”

Property developer NRP Group hired interior design firm Gala Magriñá Design to design their new office in New York City, New York.

“Always guided by the principles of holistic design, Gala Magriñá Design transformed the 1,000 square foot space into a cool, contemporary environment, complete with on-trend mid-century modern and art-deco touches, geared towards the company’s youthful and energetic staff.

When approaching the design for the project, Gala Magriñá, founder and principal of Gala Magriñá Design, closely studied NRP Group’s brand guide to inform the style and color palette for the office interiors—all while keeping her firm’s holistic interior design principles in mind. With the knowledge that company vendors and clients would frequent the office, Magriñá ensured the space was fresh, youthful, and modern, while still retaining a hint of elegance. The design team contrasted rich colors like deep greens, blues, and crimsons with light pastels, abstract art work, and plants to create a juxtaposition of playfulness and sophistication.

All within the limited available square footage, Magriñá designed an open office, meeting room, single personal office, and a reception area, with a multifunctional kitchen encompassing the meeting space and private office. One particular tactic used to counteract the small space was the use of a café style round table in the kitchen area conducive to both meetings and lunch breaks. The table is strategically positioned adjacent to an LED screen that can be used for presentations, as needed. A more traditional conference table for larger team brainstorms or collaborative work was added to the open office space. An additional multifunction space is the reception area, which doubles as a lounge for company employees. Magriñá ensured stylistic cohesion throughout each area, as all spaces are exposed to one another.

The space is adorned with tall ceilings and large windows, emanating an old New York loft-like feeling. In keeping with her firm’s holistic interior design philosophies, Magriñá embraced these characteristics of the space, maximizing natural light throughout the office. Additionally, Magriñá utilized colors that evoke “yang” energy, as opposed to “yin” energy, promoting focus and activity—perfect for fostering a productive office environment. Finally, plant-life was incorporated into the design, following the tenets of biophilia, where natural elements lead to wellness-supporting environments.

Further incorporating respect for nature and sustainability into the overall design, Magriñá sourced the products and materials for this space with intention. She used the Broom Stacking Chair by Philippe Starck, from Emeco, made entirely of recycled, repurposed materials. She also installed a stunning and sustainable cement terrazzo kitchen counter from Concrete Collaborative, emphasizing the nature of the space as a focal point in the office. Using this material, as well as a single slab for the counter and backsplash created a timeless wow-factor that was also environmentally preferable. Finally, Magriñá used low VOC paint for the space.”

Global consulting firm Charles River Associates recently hired architecture and design firm Elkus Manfredi Architects to design their new office in New York City, New York.

“An urban industrial loft aesthetic captures the essence of New York City, featuring polished concrete, exposed ceilings, dark bronze finishes, interior glass walls, and a palette of soft neutrals, punctuated by pops of blue and purple. The palette was selected by the CRA team through an extensive engagement process exploring a wide range of design options.

Circulation spaces feature polished concrete floors; the workstation spaces are carpeted in a neutral grey for a smooth visual transition from the concrete.

Efficient use of real estate was important. The reception area is immediately adjacent to three conference rooms, so it was important that it would not acoustically overpower the conference rooms. Using a semi-opaque, sound-diminishing textured glass for the conference room walls that faces reception, the design allows light into the meeting spaces while also providing visual and acoustical privacy.

The reception area features a classic Oriental rug custom over-dyed blue to balance the space’s concrete and glass aesthetic with a touch of softness. Merging of CRA and its acquired Marakon team within the new 35th-floor workplace was also critical. The Elkus Manfredi team designed an open team workspace, defined spatially by its exposed industrial ceiling, with adjacent collaboration areas, and a game room that reflects the energy and work style of the Marakon team. This team space is set cohesively within the new office, creating a unified whole.

The reception area’s spatial planning leverages magnificent views to lower Manhattan and the Hudson River, while team rooms, individual offices, collaboration spaces, and workstations make the most of tall windows and energizing city views for the whole CRA team.

Bright pops of color energize the workplace with back-painted laminated glass in blue and purple. Great Room cafés on both floors are intentionally distinct from the workspaces, providing staff with a refreshing change of environment. With dramatic views, sophisticated lighting, café tables, and a riveting reflective purple glass end-wall, it is space for recharging, eating, and casual connection with colleagues.,” says Elkus Manfredi Architects.

Accounting firm EisnerAmper recently hired architecture firm Francis Cauffman Architects to design their new office in New York City, New York.

“Upon approaching the building, employees, visitors, and clients are greeted with large EisnerAmper marquee signage on the exterior, firmly establishing the company’s welcome center at the street level. The FCA team ensured a seamless entry sequence into the space through the creation of a welcoming ground-level concierge, a hospitality-inspired guest lounge, and huddle rooms for small meetings or clients who wish to utilize the space. An elevator shuttles guests and employees to the seventh floor where doors open to a lobby with EisnerAmper’s digital brand messaging and environmental graphics (developed by FCA, in tandem with graphic branding firms AirSpace and EXP). The design intent of the seventh floor is to build a sense of vertical community and prompt communication within the company. Passing through the lobby to the main amenity zone, the space opens into a three-story atrium that functions as a large central hub, connecting all floors via monumental stairs so that employees at each level are connected and accessible to one another. The hub also features a healthy grab+go station, an IT genius bar, and game room, as well as a large outdoor terrace.

Focusing on the health and wellness of employees with a holistic approach, the design team carefully curated a selection of biophilic elements, which include plants throughout the space and pops of colors, finishes, and textures that create a professional, yet fun and edgy workspace. Further supporting the wellbeing and comfort of EisnerAmper’s employees, FCA created more intimate workstation neighborhoods that can be reserved each day through the company’s smartphone app, and ensured that the layout of each floor provided everyone with access to natural daylight throughout the space. The outdoor terrace on the seventh floor allows employees to step outside for a break or work beyond the confines of the interior. In addition to the large seventh floor community hub, each level features its own curated touch-down space and community center that offers healthy food options daily, encouraging staff to venture to different floors to take advantage of a variety of amenities and socialization.

Moving to a new location provided EisnerAmper with the opportunity to push the envelope in design and create a unique and efficient space that will enhance the overall user and client experience. The resulting headquarters is a creative and comfortable workplace that’s equipped to help EisnerAmper continue paving its path as a leader within their industry.”

Public relations firm DKC recently hired architectural design firm Sydness Architects to design their new office in New York City, New York.

“As the top public relations agency in New York, DKC was looking for a design for their headquarters office that was emblematic of the vigor and enthusiasm that they bring to their various clients and projects. Joining two floors in a Manhattan office building we were able to segregate spatial assignments so that they better suited the adjacencies that are so critical in the day to day operation of an agency such as this.

Creating specific elements within the design, that signal distinctive typologies of use and focus, the results speak to a diverse yet unified statement. High open ceilings allow for the mechanical services to be exposed and give the open areas a spaciousness that feels expansive. Working groups are defined by efficient bench seating clusters and separated by comfortable seating lounges. The space is sprinkled with private phone “booths” and small meeting pods that create intimate locations for more intensive discussions away from the larger clusters,” says Sydness Architects.
