Manufacturing company Entretelas Brinco recently hired workplace design firm Archetonic to design their new office in Tultitlán de Mariano Escobedo, Mexico.

“The project is located in an industrial zone, in a platform above a storage and distribution center of a company focused on the textile sector. The challenge was to solve and attune -spatially, operatively and intangibly- a corporate and commercial workspace that would be immersed in a mainly industrial environment.

We brought and adopted in our design solution the peculiar character that the steel structure and lightweight roof give to the space in the upper plane, as well as the view towards the imposing industrial panorama that can be appreciated from the loft. We took advantage of the gentle height, including trees and vegetation.

Wood, stone and glass are the main materials applied to the space. We also integrated textile finishes and restored old machinery, seeking to align the identity and materiality of the space with the daily productive activity of the company.

We took as a basis the information of the daily operation of the company, as well as the dynamics, interaction and way of working of the people to determine the distribution and functional solutions for the space. Motivated by the directors of Entretelas Brinco, who have collaborated so that the project is at the forefront, we did a workshop involving the people who work in the company. The workshop capitalizes on the knowledge that HM has gathered from the corporate world over the years; the spatial solution is the result of useful and current design methodologies that allow us to analyze, understand and reinvent the peculiar way of working of each company.

We are aware that nowadays our ways of work are under profound alterations and that the world and needs that architecture should solve are constantly changing, for which, as in all our projects, we resolved and guaranteed flexibility for the spaces, offering in the offices different work dynamics and environments, as well as work spaces that can be used provisionally, encouraging experimental and informal dynamics that question conventional solutions.

The spaces that motivate flexible work dynamics are available for the use of all staff and surrounded by a system of textile pallets specially designed for this project that can open and close depending on the privacy or exposure needs that could become necessary over time and different uses that are given to space.

Thus, all the spaces are tailored to Entretelas Brinco, causing collaboration and interaction of people, projecting and preparing the company to adapt and respond to the ways of working that may arise in the future.”

Mineral exploration company International Gold Mining Corporation recently hired workplace design firm Oktra to design their new office in London, England.

“We recently refurbished a 5,000 sq ft office in Savoy Court, a Grade II listed premises in the heart of Westminster, for a gold mining and trading company. Our client’s existing workspace had become outdated and did not reflect the quality and prestige of their brand, and they tasked us with creating a more modern, professional environment whilst being conscious of the heritage of the building. Our design team brought the brief to life through the use of Revit design tools and communicated the proposed design to the client with photo-realistic CGIs. Listed Building Consent was also undertaken, with The City of Westminster approving in just two weeks, with no conditions, enabling us to deliver the project within the client’s desired timescale.

We worked with a heritage consultant to ensure our work was mindful of the historic architecture of the building, and preserved the original wall panelling and crown molding which lend a classic feel to this workspace. Our designers took inspiration from the nature of our client’s business and selected a timeless, earthy colour palette and carpets inspired by the texture of stone. Through the use of glazed partitions and planting to divide the desk area, we have opened up the space and allowed in ample natural daylight, while still giving employees privacy to work and separating the working floor from the client-facing front of house spaces.

The result is a sleek and sophisticated space with a design aesthetically grounded in mineral tones and materials that reflect this global company’s connection to the earth. With five private offices, open plan desking and a large board room designed for video conferencing, our client now has larger meeting facilities and more collaboration space. The modernised interior embodies our client’s brand and presents the professionalism and stability of their business. With an office they can be proud of, our client hopes to establish this location as an international touchdown workspace in London that will leave a lasting impression on visiting clients and overseas colleagues.”

Architecture firm Peretz Architecture and yOOLOPP recently designed a new office for for engineering firm Alum Eshet in Yavne, Israel.

“The space was designed as an open space with 3 closed entities: 1 for the board room, 1 for the marketing department and 1 shared by the HR team and the service spaces (i.e. the restroom, kitchen and storage). The 3 closed entities continue with the rhythm of the main space and work in parallel to the open space, which contains the entrance hall, the planning team’s workstations and the main corridor.

The service block was painted dark grey to differentiate it from the lighter main space and so it creates a different facade from both sides of the main corridor. Since the new compound is no longer in the same domain as the factory, it loses the production look and feel. Therefore, it was important to use elements of the production floor to represent the factory in the new space. For the main light fixtures, we chose high bay lights fixtures that are characteristic to industrial spaces.

For the same reason we chose to use industrial PVC flooring, which is very common in industrial spaces. At the same time, as a part of the rebranding process, the graphic style was changed into a monochrome geometrical style, the logo changed into black slanted letters on a white background. This inspired us to take the diagonal line and use it in the flooring pattern, by using two colours PVC.

Separating between the light-coloured space and the dark cube also relates to the contrast which exists in the new graphic language. To continue that design language, the signage is made of geometrical icons painted in contrast to the wall’s tone.

We’ve decided to hang acoustic ceiling tiles which were placed according to the space usage. The plates have been positioned in a constant rhythm to the workstations and the hanging lighting elements.

The boardroom cube is designed as two meeting rooms separated by a moveable acoustic partition which, when open, creates a large boardroom. This enlarged room can hold up to 22 participants. The meeting rooms’ tables are modular and provide agility in both size and space arrangement, thus allowing for the best possible use of the space according to changing needs.”

Industrial company Dupont hired architecture & interior design firm SPACE to design their new office in Mexico City, Mexico.

“The current market and its high competitiveness have forced them to consider and apply alternatives to promote creativity in the workplace (implementation of work cells, home office, outsourcing, trainees, etc) which is why they need early talent attraction & retention plans. This arquitectural project enforced a process of strategic stacking per area that would improve the service along with the product, creating an adequate working environment with constant IT update to optimize every work session.

“Vive mejor” is a mandatory practice for every area that conforms Dupont. Communication between areas is fundamental to achieve the highest business performance possible. When faced with a chain operation such as Dupont’s, the full understanding of the ‘whats’, the ‘whens’, and the ‘whys’ of every single operation are beyond essential.

Dupont’s core value is people, which is why a variety of solutions are considered to fully satisfy the different necessities of their different communities.

The design was based on a fresh architectural trend that encompasses natural lighting, attractive, confortable, all equipped and well exploited spaces that build and increase the sensation of happiness. Work positions were standardized to achieve flexible and functional realignments with more assembly areas, a more contemporary all-round image, less personal storage space, and more archive zones per area.
The distribution of areas and work cells was planned to achieve more efficiency and logic in overall performance, incorporating new spaces (relaxation, collaboration, focus, etc) to allow users a wide range of options to choose from when trying to exercise their activities the best way possible.

The aim was to create a space where the external values and experiences sold through their different products, could be transmitted in-house. Starting from the reception area, where the main function is transmitting the company’s philosophy within collaborators, the people they’re in touch with or people accessing the facilities. A red and white scenery representing the strong corporate consolidation along with the usage of triangles as a symbol of its structure, strength and order, refer to its interdisciplinary unification that grows stronger and more efficient every time.

Dupont is a working environment with natural lighting and pleasant temperature, with transparent walls that favor supervision and collaboration; a modern space, functional and efficient that reflects Dupont’s corporate concept. With leisure spaces within everyone’s reach, including a wide and enjoyable dining area that reflects the quality of life that is promoted in-house, the dynamics of an enterprise with technology and innovation pillars are evident first-hand”.

Electric power industry company 50 Hertz recently hired interior design studio Seel Bobsin Partner to design their new office in Berlin, Germany.

“After moving to its own headquarters in 2016, the German transmission system operator 50Hertz Transmission based in Berlin, has moved into its next location in Europacity in the beginning of 2021.

Numerous team spaces, open communication and concentration areas have been created on four multi-space floors, to provide flexible work options that cover the different requirements of employees. These new workplace models are framed by an architecture that has a very industrial character. A high proportion of exposed concrete and open technical installations highlight this design.

Special oases, cafés on the 2nd and 4th floor for example, have been created to increase emotions and quality of stay. The dynamic and lively color compositions accompany a diverse selection of comfortable furniture that invite people to linger and exchange ideas.

The combination of raw architecture and vibrant color schemes creates exciting contrasts and harmonious interactions between all areas. Earthy, deep red tones and light ice blue merge with the cool grey of the surroundings. Transparent zoning elements with integrated planting are added to this scenery to provide a high- contrast design with small green accents that bring the area to life, invite people to feel at ease and stimulate creativity and exchange. Contrast becomes connection – concrete meets color.”

Home decor company The Conran Shop recently hired architecture & interior design firm Form Workplace Solutions to design their new office in London, England.

“This is a customer whose name is synonymous with the latest and greatest in British design, and we knew from the start they’d have a clear understanding of form and function, style and sophistication.

Our role was to help re-imagine a space that had previously been used as a showroom for a high-end kitchen company – think bare concrete walls, ceilings, and floors. Such was the blank canvas available, and The Conran Shop was determined to use every inch of it. Bold colours and innovative design were definitely the order of the day, married with a strong sense of practicality.

This was evident in the approach to storage, which took advantage of the high ceilings and customised lockers to offer chic homes to a vast number of samples that had been known to clutter their previous office. Below this wall storage, we also crafted bespoke touchdown benches to inspire a more collaborative ‘feel’ to the space – with the added benefit of hiding all cables and integrated power within their design. Additional power and data for the more dedicated workstations was provided via bespoke galvanised conduits which were hooked up to the ceiling tray above allowing infrastructure cabling to be housed in an innovative, uncluttered and architectural style, complementing the raw textures found in the space.

Throughout the length of the project, The Conran Shop looked to Form Workplace Solutions for guidance in working through various design challenges to help bring their vision to life – while ensuring it met their strict standards and attention to detail. As for the results, we think they confidently speak for themselves, with jaw-dropping design fused with stylish innovation: A practical elegance that meets brand expectations while staying sympathetic to the day-to-day needs of employees”.

Coffee machine manufacturer recently hired interior design firm Native Design Workshop to design their new office in Melbourne, Australia.

“The VA Experience Lab’ is the new home for internationally renowned coffee machine company, Victoria Arduino in Australia. This space is a workspace for the company’s team, as well as a place where industry professionals can gather, view, test and learn how to use the coffee machines, while also gaining an understanding of the products and their origins. Furthermore, the Experience Lab will act as a training ground for some of the best baristas in the world when preparing for competition.

With such a small floorplate to respond to the numerous programmatic requirements, we had to consolidate ideas and go away from compartmentalising function, which was given as a directive from some of the stakeholders. Instead, we opted for an approach that embraces the modern workspace and allows for the people of Brunswick to actually see what goes on in the space, which is what the actual occupants of this space wanted, to become a part of the community and not just another business that turns its back on the street. With this mindset, we built upon a very Melbourne approach to the coffee game and took the idea of the ‘hole in the wall’ coffee shop to another level,” says Native Design Workshop.

Manufacturing company Bemac recently hired architecture firm Twodesigners to design their new office in Liege, Belgium.

“Getting support from an interior design agency was therefore obvious to them when it came to setting up their cafeteria. It was therefore necessary to be able to give an original touch to this space while keeping the team spirit very strong within Bemac. In short, feel good there! Challenge met! The kitchen section incorporates several functions and therefore allows different uses depending on the time of day or the number of people present in the space.

A small informal meeting around the large custom-designed table? The cafeteria has been divided into several spaces (kitchen, high stools, benches, chairs, sofa and divan) by wooden trellises entirely designed to measure and which also allow to integrate plants in order to make the space even more cozy. Special attention has also been paid to lighting and brightness in this space where you can meet, discuss, eat, celebrate a birthday or even organize a small speech with a screen for presentations or watch the matches of football world cup! Next to the training and meeting rooms a small informal coffee and discussion area has been designed by our interior designer team to provide everything you need for coffee and drinks. The whole in a custom-made furniture with a surprising color,” says Twodesigners.

Manufacturing company GWA Group recently hired architecture & interior design firm Hammond Studio to design their new office in Sydney, Australia.

“At the core of GWA’s mission is its commitment to ‘making life better with superior solutions for water’. Following this very strong connection to nature, Hammond Studio adopted an interior design response that stems from nature’s elements of earth, air, fire and water. This ‘Land to Hand’ scheme has informed the palette of GWA’s workspace.

From the concept of earth arises the ‘Terra Firma’ zone, engendering comfort and security through a sense of solidity and foundation. In contrast to this is the ‘Up in the Air’ zone, enabling staff to move freely and lightly throughout the space.

Motivating interaction and engagement between employees is the fire-fuelled ‘Around the Campfire’ zone, designed to empower a combustion of energy and magnetism. Centring all this is ‘The Source’, referencing the life force of water, a zone in which serenity and celebration abounds,” says Hammond Studio.

Energy company TechnipFMC hired office interior design studio The Design Group to design their new office in Krakow, Poland.

“The TechnipFMC office in Krakow has several unique solutions created especially by architects from The Design Group. Among them it is definitely worth mentioning the so-called void, i.e. a free space integrating floors 2, 3 and 4 and connected by glazing with floor 1. This original TDG idea allows you to look from the first floor to the other levels of the office, almost as we can observe the world while under water. The void zone is also a symbolic integration of all teams working on each floor, where open spaces, collabs and rooms are located. In the previous location, this connection was impossible, so the client was very anxious to ensure that all employees in the new office had a sense of consolidation.

The first floor of the office, i.e. the underwater level, is a collab area designed for collaborative work. It was maintained in navy blue, and the sand-coloured carpeting refers to the seabed. The walls are finished with a special light diffusing structure – to give the most of the underwater nature of the world. The shape of the seats proposed by The Design Group (especially for this zone) resembles the underwater installations produced by TechnipFMC. The second floor (water surface) has representative functions. This is where the reception desk and event space dedicated to, among others, town hall meetings are located.

Red, blue and purple, which dominate the company’s logotype, have been supplemented with raw concrete resin. It can be found on the floor and walls in the reception and event area. The element warming the arrangement is a wood-like laminate used on the walls in offices. However, there are many more references to the characteristic TechnipFMC logo here. They are present in various details of the interior design of the office, which clearly reflect the unique dynamics of the triangle, e.g. in glazing under an angle or selected furniture.

The next levels of the office are characterized by different brand colors of the trapezoidal metal sheet, which is the core of each space. In offices, meeting rooms and work rooms, the ceiling is decorated with expanded metal modules painted black, under which installations and mineral wool also in the same color are attached. Therefore, closed offices meet the acoustic requirements. In addition, this solution is aesthetically interesting because there is an impression of space between the mesh and the ceiling,” says The Design Group.

Construction firm Construtora Barbosa Mello recently hired architecture design firm Vazio S/A to design their new office in Belo Horizonte, Brazil.

“Construtora Barbosa Mello’s new headquarters is an open office whose main element is a skylight that provides plenty of natural light, which allowed a highlight to the landscaping. Palm trees, cyclanthus, and philodendrons constrict and demarcate continuous workspaces, artificial light is balanced with daylight, and living areas are defined by green areas.

At the same time sober and cozy, the office is in Savassi, a bustling neighborhood in Belo Horizonte (Brazil) that combines daytime activity with the nightlife of bars and restaurants.

Originally, a “BHZ Mall” operated on site: a shopping gallery whose stores were all facing a double-height mall crowned by this large illuminating skylight. Therefore, it was a typical hermetic gallery designed for retail and not for offices. Our proposal bets on the valorization of this only source of natural light, hence the choice for large plants (like the Ptychosperma macarthurii palms) and for a layout that enhances the space of the original mall, now transformed into a gardened common area.

The program is divided into two floors that make up 2,300 m2. In the first, the visual permeability of the open space contrasts with the privacy of the meeting rooms, which are concentrated along the perimeter of the building. In the second, where there are no common areas, the workspaces are disposed around the mezzanine and enjoy the precious natural light available.

A key item of the project, the leisure area has its own time, decelerated by a wall of plants that live well in low light, and marked by a modular wooden bleacher. Taking advantage of a functional design, the apparent pipe irrigation system guarantees the correct watering of the cachepots and highlights an “infrastructural” vertical plane.

The landscaping project is complemented by the graphic signage project. In addition to demarcating the glass partitions with a pattern that determines a balance between transparency and privacy, there are also pictograms designed after a re-reading of the company logo, designating all the rooms,” says Vazio S/A.
